Puff Bars – Are They FAR BETTER Than Disposable E-Cigarettes?
The Food and Drug Administration has sent a notice to the privately held company to immediately remove Puff Bar electric cigarettes from the marketplace in a matter of 15 business days, with all flavors of the merchandise being pulled off the shelves. This comes as a surprise due to the fact the Vape maker enjoyed healthy profits last year. The company also had a product line that included both analog and electric cigarettes, which are completely changing their lineup in the highly competitive electronic cigarette market. Therefore they may be losing their grip on the ever-growing electronic cigarette market.
The FDA sent this notice since it considers both nicotine products to become a controlled substance. Since nicotine is really a poison that triggers every smoker’s worst nightmare, this action seems illogical. On top of that, the FDA notes that the business marketed and sold disposable e-cigarette products that also contain nicotine, and didn’t make any distinction between the nicotine e-juices and the puff bar cartridges that produce the ultimate product. Now that the entire product line has been taken off the shelves, the question becomes: will the FDA come back in another few months to force the business to prove that they are not misusing nicotine products?
Even if the FDA were to take such an aggressive stance with regards to vapor products, public health officials would still need to tread with caution in terms of dealing with tobacco, significantly less with vapor products. We know that smoking can be an immediate risk to health insurance and there is simply no making your way around the fact that smoking is bad for your health. But there is a chance that removing puff bar products could cause smokers to begin with smoking again. That’s definitely not going to solve any public health problems.
The other danger is that the FDA did not ban flavored e-cigarette products. They simply asked the manufacturers to remove some of the more threatening ingredients from their products, such as nicotine, which causes cancer. In doing so, they opened the door for more dangerous and addictive flavors to be introduced into the marketplace. So in essence, we’ve already lost one section of the solution.
Even if the FDA wanted to, they couldn’t go in to the marketplace and ban every single flavor that was connected with cigarettes. They wouldn’t be able to get distributors to stock them, plus they certainly couldn’t take action through each of the flavors that are available. There are tobacco companies out there that are making tobacco flavors that are not actually cigarette flavors. With all of that said, it’s simply not possible for the FDA to dictate what flavor e-liquid companies can put in their puff disposable devices.
That doesn’t mean that the FDA did nothing at all to help protect public health. They have, for example, developed Smoke Deter, an electric patch that you could wear on your body which will allow you to slowly reduce the amount of nicotine you take in over time. It is meant to be a short-term solution, and works perfectly for most people. But with the invention of flavored e-cigarette liquids, the issue of dependency on the products is only going to get worse.
Almost all of the flavors currently being provided by puff bars include fruit flavors such as pomegranate, blueberry, and grape. It’s a good idea to stay away from fruit flavored e-liquids, though. They tend to be high in sugar and calories, and are generally not regarded as very healthy. A number of the other “notable” flavors include sour apple, cinnamon toast, and chocolate covered apple. If you are uncertain what puff bar to choose, you can always just ask people you know. Chances are they don’t have a pick.
The easiest way to avoid getting dependent on tobacco products is to make the switch to disposable e-liquids. There are no addictive substances, so there is absolutely no chance of becoming influenced by them. There is absolutely no odor or taste, so it’s virtually impossible to become accustomed to. In addition, medical risks from puffing on a regular cigarette are much higher with a Puff Bar than they might be if you were smoking a normal tobacco product.
